1. How did this website get started?
Charlotte Whittington had the original idea of this concept in 1990. She has been a Sweet Adeline for over 15 years in Tampa, Florida with The Toast of Tampa Show Chorus. Her love of her chorus and her "singing sisters" and her love of traveling and meeting people are the basic ingredients that founded the website. Her vision is for this website to become the "meeting place" for Adelines around the world to connect, travel, share, and have fun with one another.
2. Is this website affiliated with Sweet Adelines International, Inc. ?
No. However, 10% of the Adeline Network membership revenue will be donated to the Young Singers Foundation and 30% will be donated to other Sweet Adeline activities. The founders of the Adeline Network sincerely believe in the principles of Sweet Adelines International and hope that this website can offer even greater rewards and benefits to Sweet Adeline members.
3. How can another Adeline contact me, since my full name, address, phone and email are not displayed on my profile?
The website provides the ability for someone to contact you via messages and connections tabs. However, the only way anyone can get your name, address, phone or email is for you, as a personal decision, to provide the information with full understanding that the company limitations of liability pursuant to Section IX of the webpage subscription agreement apply.
4. When I join the Adeline Network, can I change my profile to include more activities later?
Yes! Some members may choose only to search for other adelines offering guest rooms, visits, tours or adventures. Some may wish to welcome guests or share hobbies or offer rehearsal visits or other activities. Some may wish only to visit, through our website, with adeline members around the world. Others may enjoy doing all THREE! The possibilities for unique, interesting and enjoyable experiences are endless. You may update and edit your profile as often as you wish.
5. How can I locate and contact a host?
Host members may be located by utilizing the "Member Map Search"and "Browse Members" member list , search features that are a part of the networking site. The "Search Member Information", Advance Search allows searching for host services ranging from guest rooms to guided day tours and day visits. When trips are being planned to a specific area members may befound for valuable information and advice regarding local attractions, festivals, cultural and historical sites. Searches may be conducted to identify local members with interests and information such as bird watching, snorkeling and scuba diving, hiking and bicycling etc. Complete information for utilizing this feature is contained in the Help Center by clicking the Search Member Information item.
6. Why do I choose to be a guest?
You will enjoy "homestay" hospitality and unique and enjoyable experiences such as local chorus rehearsals and even annual chorus shows while visiting with a sister adeline. You can visit with adeline hosts world wide and receive inside information regarding their locality with respect to the most enjoyable and unique attractions and events. You will find hosts who offer overnight guest rooms, guided day tours and day visits. Some members have found opportunities to mutually exchange accommodations in this country and overseas with sister adelines.
7. Why should I be a host?
If you are an empty nester and have vacant bedrooms this is an opportunity to enjoy making new friends with like interests from all over this country and the world. In addition you will be able to generate extra income for quartet and chorus dues, costumes and travel expenses. You will enjoy visiting and reminiscing about adeline adventures and experiences with adeline sisters.
